Nori

Origins

Nori was a Longbeard of the exiles in the Blue Mountains, one of the followers of Thorin Oakenshield who were of the same house as the king but not of his near kin. He came to Bag End with Dori and Ori, the three of them in purple hoods and carrying flutes, and the three are usually understood to be brothers. Thorin introduced them together as being of the old stock of Moria.

The quest of Erebor

Nori is the least individual of the company in the story. He had a Dwarf's appetite, and when the company sat down at Beorn's table or in the Elvenking's cells or on the doorstep of the Mountain he is mentioned among those asking for food. Otherwise he shared every stage of the journey without distinction: the trolls, the goblin tunnels, the Wargs and the Eagles, the spiders and the dungeons of Thranduil, the barrel-ride to Lake-town, and the weeks on the Mountain. He fought in the Battle of Five Armies and came through it.

Later life

Nori stayed at Erebor under Dáin Ironfoot and did not go to Moria when Ori went with Balin in 2989. In 3018 Glóin told Frodo that Nori was still living at the Mountain, and there the record ends.

Survived the quest and lived at Erebor; still alive in T.A. 3018.
